Sommelier's opinion

Lugana DOC is a wine whose production is allowed only in five municipalities in the provinces of Brescia and Verona, which surround Lake Garda.

Produced with at least 90% of the Turbiana grape variety (locally called Trebbiano di Lugana), it is able to satisfy all tastes with its different types (base, Superiore, Riserva, Late Harvest and Sparkling Wine). Lugana can be fresh, light, sparkling but also a structured and complex wine to be expected in the cellar.

The Cà dei Frati company has been known since 1782 as evidenced by a document that reports "of a house with cellar located in Lugana in the Sermion area known as the place of the Friars". Since 1939, thanks to the Dal Cero family, the company has been able to carve out a leading role first throughout Italy and then in the world, collecting prizes and important awards, managing to identify strongly with the Sirmione territory of Lugana wine.

"I Frati" is the pride of the company, the wine that made them known and continues to be the most representative label.

It is a wine with two faces. As a "basic" type, it is designed to be fresh, vintage wine, with its elegance and delicate floral aromas and hints of almond and citrus.

A few years later, his fresh personality leaves room for more complex characteristics, with iodine scents, spices and candied fruit and a marked minerality.

It is a very pliable wine, perfect for an aperitif or a warm summer evening. It obviously goes well with grilled lake fish, but also goes well with white fish soups, shellfish or a nice margherita pizza.
